We are the Southern Coupon Junkies:)
We're two sisters from Alabama who live, eat and breathe couponing. We're absolutely committed to getting the lowest price and best deals out there while helping others do the same:)
Hello, I'm Kara! The younger sister to Kayla. I am 20 years old and I started couponing last year with my mom around June 2011. We saw one episode of the show 'Extreme Couponing' and were eager to learn how it was done! We watched a few more episodes and every time we would say, "We've got to figure that out!!". So that's what we did! I started printing like crazy and we went and bought the paper every Sunday for the coupon inserts and we were so excited about our new obsession. We would chase down every good deal we could find and spend hours and hours clipping and looking for new coupons and most of our weekends were spent shopping with coupons at multiple stores. I've learned since that 'Extreme Couponing' is not exactly real and a lot of the stuff on the show seems to have been done by coupon fraud and that's definitely not the way to coupon. I've also learned that chasing down every good deal out there is almost impossible and a little ridiculous to be completely honest. Since then we've picked one store to shop at and that's Publix because it's the easiest store for us and they seem to be the nicest when it comes to couponing. We usually save about half, maybe a little more, off of our grocery bill each week and that's fine with us! I started this blog last year after I started couponing and I just couldn't get it going the way I would've liked. I became overwhelmed by all the couponing and how large my stockpile was getting so I stopped couponing for a little while and I wish now that I had never done that, but I'm back at it again and I now have my sister on board and we are trying to get this blog going because we love to help people and teach them what we have learned. We've had so many people ask us how we do it and instead of explaining it every time, it's much easier to just send them the link to our blog. We hope to use this as a way to show people that couponing can be done and it can be done the right way! We want people to know that 'couponers' are not bad people and we are not hurting the stores in any way by using coupons. (As long as you are using your coupons the right way and following the store's coupon policies.) We are happy to answer any questions you may have so don't hesitate to ask us!
Thanks for checking out our blog!! :)

Hey y'all:) I'm Kayla, the oldest sister and newest couponer. I began couponing in October 2012 after much help from my sister and many prayers over my family's finances. I'm not much of a writer but I do love sharing what I have learned with others who are interested in couponing! After being married for over 3 years, my husband and I were struggling with our finances...at the ripe old age of 22, we had 2 mortgages, 3 vehicle payments, a camper payment and thousands of dollars in medical bills due to infertility...I prayed for many months for guidance and help with our situation. God brought me to couponing! I've attempted couponing before but it never clicked until now. Within two weeks of starting to use coupons we were also able to get rid of one mortgage and one vehicle payment (they both finally sold). God is good! Before couponing, we were spending around $350 a WEEK on groceries/restaurants and other household items (don't ask me how, we seriously never seemed to have anything to eat in the house so we would go out to eat most days!) Now, thanks to couponing, I spend between $10-$100 each week (working on getting it even lower!) and always have more than enough to prepare the entire week's meals and add to my stockpile. So, not only am I saving on groceries, we're also saving a ton by preparing all of our meals at home instead of going out...which is also helping our waistlines;)
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, we'll do our best to answer them & help!
Thanks for stopping by!
